Gene L. Jones, Patriarch of West Wendover, Passes Away
Long-time resident and Patriarch of West Wendover, Mr. Gene L. Jones, passed away Sunday morning February 19th in Sandy, Utah, from complications incident to old age. He was 95.
Gene was a very prominent figure in the Wendover community for over 80 years as a friend, business leader and community supporter.
He was honored by the City of West Wendover in 2007 when the city held its ground breaking ceremony for its new City Hall and, at the same time, officially dedicated "N. Gene L. Jones Way", as the main street to service the new City Hall and the Victory Highway Historic Monument. Gene also was an honored guest at the City Hall dedication that followed in 2009.
We as a city offer our deepest sympathies to his wonderful family. With fondest memories, will miss him greatly!
