Currently West Wendover does not have access to a natural gas pipeline though, the City is working with several companies including Ruby Gas and others on extending their current pipelines to West Wendover. These pipelines are located 90 miles east of our community. The reality of natural gas is not if but when.

West Wendover’s continual business climate of growth is providing exponential need for low cost fuels such as natural gas for both direct use and through co-generation facilities. The City’s aggressive approach to providing the necessary utilities for both large and small business is a driving factor behind the consideration of several natural gas companies. Current community make-up confirms that there is ample market for such service. The City estimates that by the year 2007, we will have natural gas available for consumers in West Wendover.

Liquid Petroleum gas is available in the community and is provided by Propane of Wendover and Wendover Gas Company. Propane of Wendover began service in the Wendover area in 1965 under the ownership and operation of the Eriksen family. In 1996, Nancy Green assumed ownership of Propane of Wendover and formed a new company, Wendover Gas Company, which now operates as an area utility. Wendover Gas Company recently finished instillation of a network of underground transmission lines providing the community with a new grid system for delivery of LP gas. This upgrade has nearly eliminated the need for LP tanks in the community and with its instillation, Wendover Gas Company has positioned itself as another aggressive local business in the forefront; the system was installed with the foresight of use with natural gas; being designed to meet all needs and requirements of a natural gas system.
