The City of West Wendover would like to help educate the community on the new proposed City of West Wendover City Ordinance regarding Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV). This is to ensure safe and enjoyable use of your vehicles so make sure to spread the word to your fellow OHV/ATV users.
The new city ordinance (2024-03) follows the current requirements under the Nevada Revised Statutes which is Chapter 490 (Off Highway Vehicles). Additionally, the new ordinance closely resembles the OHV ordinance which is in effect for the City of Elko.

We would like to remind the community that it is required that the operator of an OHV must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid state issued driver’s license along with the OHV having current state registration through the DMV, having proper insurance documentation, and that the OHV operator wears a helmet.
Also, if your OHV does not meet the registration requirements under NRS 490.0825 for legal street use, the OHV must use an appropriate and dedicated route within the community and be operated at the appropriately indicated speeds.

Please note, that the West Wendover Police Department will take enforcement action including but not limited to the issuance of citations, OHV impounding and or both if the owner and or operator are found to be in violation of the West Wendover City Ordinance and or the Nevada Revised Statutes.
The City of West Wendover encourages everyone to take the free online off-road certification program, which can be found at www.offroad-ed.com/nevada/. There are no age requirements to attend this virtual class.
