The Eastern Gateway to Nevada.   "Where the West Begins"!

The City's Tourism & Convention Bureau (WWTCB) was first established in 2001 under the Community Development Department.  The WWTCB's primary mission is to operate the West Wendover Welcome Center located on Wendover Bouelvard which was built in the mid 1980's and operated by two non-profits until 2001; Wendover USA and the Wendover Area Chamber of Commerce.   With the passing of those two organizations, the City formed the WWTCB.

Under the direction of the Community Development Director, the staff of the WWTCB operates the Welcome Center facility and welcomes visitors to our community from all across the globe.  In addition to providing visitors with information on the area and sites of interest, etc., the WWTCB also helps to promote community wide activities including the annual July 4th Celebration among others.  Through professional staffing and proper presentation of our community and its people through a welcoming smile, the WWTCB has been recognized as one of the most responsive, friendly and well maintained facilities in the western United States.

The West Wendover Welcome Center is located at 735 Wendover Boulevard next to the City's current main park, the Robert F. Scobie Park often times known as "Scobie Park".  The Center is home to the 509th Composite Group Memorial Monument.  This monument was constructed in the late 1980's by private donations and the 509th Composite Group to honor all those who served.  The 509th Composite Group was formed at Wendover Field in September 1945, its Top Secret mission to train, develop and eventually deliver the Atomic Weapons that would bring an end to World War II.

If you are looking for specific information regarding Scobie Park, the rental of pavilions, etc., you will need to contact the West Wendover Recreation District which owns and operates the park facilities.  775-664-3289.
